    A Book?

There are a group of friends that I am included in, ironically called the 'A-list'. Many of us are Youth Pastors, others counselors, musicians, artist, etc. But we all lean on each other for support and sometimes understanding through the difficult times.

We all value each other's opinions, concerns and suggestions. But the conversation that surfaces every time we are around each other is the question, "What are you reading right now?"

In our last meeting, I was in the middle of reading the Twilight series due to the highly obessive nature it has on Youth culture right now and the upcoming movie release in the next week.

However, The Shack was immediately shouted out at the table while many of my other friends suddenly 'ooohed' and 'awed' over the mentioning of this book.

Now, I usually decide on which book I would like to read depending on what the subject is and what am able to tolerate. However, whenever a book is immediately strongly suggested by a majority of my brethren, then I am absolutely obligated to move it to the number 1 position on my list of "What to read next."

So I bought this book yesterday. And as of today, I am nearing the final 3 chapters. It is the most provocative, profound, yet awesome story of a glimpse and realization of God in the midst of tragedy all wrapped up in a fictional peice filled with emotion. Many pastors and churches are on their way to 'debunk' the story and 'protect' their friends from reading it and finding truth in it, yet, I find the wisdom that is shared within the book to be absolutely life-changing.

There has only been one other book that I have completely finished in one 24 hr. period and it was To Own A Dragon by Donald Miller. So my suggestion rate is extremely high. Go out, buy the book, rent the book, steal the....wait, don't do that. Just get your hands on it and read it today. From the 'A-list' to you, The Shack is something you should have on your shelf.
